Geiranger

Posted on November 25th, 2014

At the very end of the long fjord, there is a small village called Geiranger, which gives the whole fjord his name.
Every day comes a really big sea ship until the end of the fjord. And unlike me, you should know when the ship is coming. Then you you can take a very impressive image of a big ship in the narrow fjord. I saw some pictures and you can believe me, it is very impressiv. I mean this landscape is anyway impressive with all the wonderful mountains and the sea in the middle. But my advice is, take the image with the cream of the crop.

And the ferry is gone

At this point the street is ending and further you can only go with the ferry. Foolish if you can see this image with the ferry from behind, then you have to wait another 24h at this point of nowhere, until the next ferry is coming.
But good for us, we were coming via the ferry from Lysebotn and have just left it. Because in a short while we took the road in the other direction,  left the Lysefjord and drove further on our journey through Norway.

At the end of nowhere

Posted on April 23rd, 2014

To reach this piece of earth you have to drive a long distance through the mountains or you take the ferry. It’s the end of the large Lysefjord and called Lysebotn. If the weather conditions are good, then you can see some spectacular views from the top of the pass. As we reached the top one day before, the fog was so thick you couldn’t see the balustrade outside the windows of the restaurant.
Short after I shot this picture, we took the ferry and left this peaceful valley on our journey through Norway.

Geiranger

What a sightseeing isn’t it? After I walked the way, you can see it in the picture, up from Geiranger to the Mountain called Dalsnibba on an altitude of nearly 1500m I was still fresh like a spring morning. Okay I didn’t walked up there, you can drive with your car up to the peak…
But the sight is really breathtaking. And can you see the lake deep down in the valley? This is not a lake, this is the sea, it’s the end of the Geirangerfjord with the small village Geiranger, where is about 100km away from the coastline and this is really awesome. The peak is only 1500m high, but you have to start at 0m altitude down in Geiranger.

Lonely in the rain

Posted on März 20th, 2014

If you’re driving nearly 2000km to see a breathtaking place on earth, you won’t stop short before your destination only because it rains. After we received the parking near the Preikestolen in Norway, it begans to rain. At the beginning it was light summer rain but during the hours it was a constant heavy rain.
And so we walked 3 hours up and another 3 hours down through the rain. I could not make so much photos of the impressive landscape it was simply too wet.
But short after we returned I gazed back and saw this lonely person standing at the cliff. Under the feet 700m free fall down to the fjord.
