A chestnut

Posted on September 29th, 2014

Now it’s autumn and warm like newer before in the last quarter year. Yes, I didn’t use the the name of the past season, which has not deserved it.
If the weather is going on like this, then we get outweighed with a outstanding autumn. At the last weekend were a lot people on the road. They all wanted to use this beautiful weekend, because who knows when the weather will change again.

Sunset before the wedding

Posted on August 28th, 2014

We were invited to our friends wedding. At the evening before the wedding and the party, I checked out the neighborhood, thereby we have a nice background for our portraits.
Because it was already late, I was able to see the Fuerstenlager at Bensheim in a very nice sunset. E voila here is the result, a beautiful environmet in a stunning light.

Chestnut and Bokeh

Wonderful how the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 the whole scenery is drawing so soft and only the choosen object is in the depth of field. I use this lens likely for portraits shooting to bring people out in the photo.
If I had choosen an aperture of 16, who will find this small chestnut in the whole image? But so it is surrounded by a beautiful and soften play of colors. Does the depth of field not act like a flood light spot on a dark stage?

A summertime evening walk

Posted on Mai 24th, 2014

A beautiful summer night in the medieval town of Weinheim. It was mild, clear and the people enjoying the evening outside in a restaurant. The castle in the background completed the image of this picturesque village.
This image a perfect example for a nice relaxed summer night. Can you already feel the summer is coming?

Sunset over Bensheim

Posted on April 20th, 2014

I’m still in easter holiday and after all the cloudy nights without a chance to get some nightshots, I had to walk with Bubu in the rain. And the best part is, it doesn’t rain everywhere, it rains only in the small side valley where I was walking with my dog, hmmm.
About the photo, where I shot two years ago. I was walking around to search good places for the portrait shooting of the bridal couple, when I found this sightseeing over Bensheim while the sun was just hide behind the horizon.
If you are lucky and the clouds are at the right position you can shoot nice sunsets everywhere. If there are no clouds you can have the best sightseeing and the sunset will not be spectacular. So don’t hope for a cloudless sky, okay to much clouds are also bad…

The fontain and the stars

Posted on April 9th, 2014

Normally I shoot starscapes in the alps, because of the less light pollution. But who say it’s not possible to catch some stars in a city? I can see stars here, not so many like I do in the mountains but they are there.
This fontain is in the castle garden of Weinheim in Germany. The interesting shine in the sky comes from the fast moving clouds while I was shooting totally about 160 secounds.

Fürstenlager

Near the german town Bensheim is a recreation area close to the town, called Fürstenlager. A good friend of mine celebrated his wedding at this beautiful place. I reached the location at the evening before and took the chance for a late photowalk at the sunset. It was the right decision and I could see an awesome sky until the dusk.

Roses in the night

Posted on Februar 18th, 2014

If I’m in a city I can’t resist to go for a nightly photowalk, so I did it in the beautiful German city Weinheim. There is nice castle in middle of down town and directly behind it is the wonderful castle garden. There are people walking around, sitting there, drinking beer or what ever and have a loud dispute about their relationship. And they won’t go away for long time. Therefore I used my usual technique to remove people out of my images by taking several shots. At the end, I have a clean empty garden with roses, stars and a castle in the background.

The handy man

Posted on Februar 12th, 2014

This was the night before the wedding of friends of mine. It was a mild spring night and we stayed outside of a restaurant in Weinheim, drinking, eating and were anticipating for the next day.
As a nightly photoshooter I could not resist to take some images of this pretty small town. At the background you can see the nearby church and at the top of the trees you see, it was not completly windless. What also cool is, there are not only this yellowish sodium vapor lamps and this gives the image more colors. It is a bracketing series of three with 2ev steps.

Weinheim at sunset

Posted on Januar 7th, 2014

One year ago, me and my wife were invited to a wedding in the beautiful small town, called Weinheim near Frankfurt in Germany. Of course I was photographing this event :). At the day before, after our arrival, I saw this nice alley with the restaurant and I couldn’t resist to take a photo of it. The sun was allready deep in the sky and send her colorful light to this scenery.
I took a bracked series of 3 images with 2EV steps, for this hdr shot.
