The red house

Posted on Dezember 2nd, 2014

You can find this red house in Gamlebergen. Gamlebergen is an outdoor museum in Norway where you can find all the old houses which are not demolished, but instead moved from their old places to this amazing museum of bygone days.
And you will recover all over Norway these red, wooden houses. Maybe they painted it red, to find it again in the deep snow coverd winter landscapes. Or maybe they liked the color red. Or maybe the producer of red paint had a really good sales team :)
What ever the reason was, it is very characteristic in Norway and you can find all over the country these beautiful red houses.

Geiranger

Posted on November 25th, 2014

At the very end of the long fjord, there is a small village called Geiranger, which gives the whole fjord his name.
Every day comes a really big sea ship until the end of the fjord. And unlike me, you should know when the ship is coming. Then you you can take a very impressive image of a big ship in the narrow fjord. I saw some pictures and you can believe me, it is very impressiv. I mean this landscape is anyway impressive with all the wonderful mountains and the sea in the middle. But my advice is, take the image with the cream of the crop.

Purple flowers in Norway

Posted on November 23rd, 2014

Because the weather was not that perfect during our journey through norway, we could see some very dramatic skies.
The sun was nearly covered with clouds, but there were some spots coming through the clouds and highlighted the mountains. So I decided to walk into a field of flowers to get more color into this image. I choosed f/11 which was too wide open for the perfect depth of field. An aperture of f/16 or  f/22 would have been better.
Anyway I like this image for the colors, the dramatic sky and the glaciers in the background.

Preikestolen

Posted on November 11th, 2014

Right after we started at the parking lot, it starts to rain and it rains not just a little bit. But as you think if it rains, then you will find an empty spot, you are wrong.
Although the trail is not that easy to go, there were a lot of tourists on the way. Maybe they thought the same way like we had, if we are here, who knows when we could be there again, so ignore the weather and go anyway.
But well, walking 6 hours through the rain, was interesting experience and it was good, my 5DmkII is weather sealed :)

Dark clouds over trollcity

Posted on November 5th, 2014

Slowly I creeped nearer to the troll buildings under my ghillie suit I was nearly not visible. But I had anyway a bad feeling while I was crawling over the swampy floor.
But all the effort was for nothing. I didn’t see any trolls. Maybe they were elsewhere on a manhunt. Therefore next time I will use some tripwires to catch them.
I ordered already some laser traps and infrared cameras. They can’t hide from me, someday I will catch one!

The look back

Posted on September 9th, 2014

After some rainy days and missed opportunities, we left Lysebotn with the ferry on our way again through the wild fjordland of Norway.
On the half way to our landing place, where we can drive by car again, I took a picture back into the narrow Lysefjord with his high towering mountains on both sides. Yes, it would have been nice, to take a look down to the fjord from the top of the mountains, but rain and thick fog made us a line through the bill.
What a mess, now I have to drive again up to the north for another try…

Mountain village

Posted on August 19th, 2014

The small dreamy mountain village called Herdalen is as an UNSECO world heritage marked. There we have the proof! Trolls are existing! Because such wooden huts you can find all over the world. And they are already derelicted, who wants this.
Therefore it has another reason to protect this region and what others can this be, than trolls? First I thought I catched one, but no, after a further contemplation I saw it was only a girl…

Sunset on the fjord

Posted on August 13th, 2014

I guess I mentioned before, sunsets in the far north are really relaxing. Meanwhile here in middle europe you nearly have time to grab your camera, before the light show is gone, here up in Norway you can take your time.
At the beginning of the shooting i was a bit edgy, because I dit not want to miss another sunset. But after half an hour was the show still going on and I had nearly no more ideas what else I can shoot.

Troll country

Posted on August 12th, 2014

If you drove the Trollstigen in Norway slowly upwards, no it’s not possible to drive at normal speed, there are too many busses and flatlanders :) on the street, then you soon reach a highland. In this mountain part you can still find some snow pieces in the middle of the summer.
Therefore we come from the Trollstigen, I guess we are now in the heart of the troll country. Unfortunately I could not catch any trolls, although I used tripwires and photo traps. So we have to be content with the awesome landscape, which Norway can offer us.

Atmospheric Bergen

Posted on Juli 31st, 2014

Although we had rarely a clear sky at our journey through Norway, I could make some atmospheric shots.
This nightshot from Bergen is one from this categorie. You can’t see any stars, therefore there are nice blue clouds in the sky. Because the blue hour, up here in the north is during a very long time. And if you can see all these people, the Norwegian must enjoy this long summer evenings too.
Therefore they have also very long winter nights, although for starscapes this can be not so bad :)
