Clouds in the sky

Posted on Juni 23rd, 2015

The sun was hiding and the clouds were coming.
It was the perfect moment for a starscape image with the Milkyway, if the clouds would disappear. But unfortunately the sky was more and more covered with clouds.
And so I had only an image of the lake before the night was coming and after 3 hours of driving around, I was back home without any nightly shots. Next time I will capture more stars, I promise you :)

The stars and the sunset

Posted on Januar 7th, 2015

The sunset is still glowing, while the stars are already visible.
Here in the lonely wilderness, where the foxes and the rabbits say good night, where you can nothing hear than the blowing wind and the air is so clear, you can see the stars up in the sky before the last sun glow disappeared. There is it so darn cold you can freeze your balls of…
But there are a fandfull brave men, defy the hard condtions to get the pictures and bring it to you on your screen in the warm hut in front of a soft crackling fire.
“Tom Fear knows no Fear…” hmm, I already heard this quotation, who can tell me where?

Let’s get pink

The reward after a steep climb and short night was the view to the red painted mountains by the very first sunrays of the day.
I was reaching the peak after the sun was setting behind the horizon. I took some shots built up my tent and took a short nap. Because of the clouds I couldn’t take starscapes. But later this night the clouds were gone and I could take some amazing shots, but more on this another time. After another short nap and this time I was up early enough, I could see the sunrise.
And it was amazing to see the very first rays with the red light and the long shadows over the valleys. Between some shots, I always saw another interesting light scene, I was packing together. And then, sometime while I was running around, I must lost my tent pegs. I was searching like crazy, but in the high grass I didn’t found it anymore. Darn, after this sunrise such a mistake, I picked up my backpack and was walking frustrated back home. But what a surprise! Then I saw the tent pegs lying in the grass, the day was saved! :)

A starry night

Posted on Mai 17th, 2014

It was one of my first try to catch the Milkyway. First I waited for a night without moon and second I waited with a night without moon and no clouds. And for better seeing conditions I was driving on a place in the alps where I have a good sight without too much light pollution.
I choose my favorite Waegital and this was my first visit there. I was starting at home about 8 o’clock in the evening and reached this point at 10pm. Took some images and left it short before midnight.
I never saw the milkyway so clearly and for central Europe it is really impressive how good I could see it.
Now I’m waiting for the next moonless night without clouds to take more of these awesome Milkyway shots.

The early bird…

Posted on Mai 14th, 2014

I hate waking up early in the morning but sleeping in the tent was anyway not so  comfortable. We built up the tent on an uneven ground, therefore I was sonstantly gliding of my mat. The whole two hours we had to sleep between the starscape shots and the sunrise.
So it was not as hard as usual to stand up, the hard time was coming later. But this time I was awake early enough to see the “Alpenglühen” when the sun was hitting first peaks with her red beams. It is always very impressiv to see the sunrise in the mountains, especially I can fight my lazy bones.

The morning glow

Posted on März 27th, 2014

After a hard climb, a long night and a short sleep, we stood up early enough to see the sun rising. The peaks are glowing in the red morning sun and the dawn is changing to daylight. The grass was wet from the night and, haha, I wear better shoes and didn’t get wet feet.
It was a very beautiful sunrise and the hard mountain hiking was forgotten.

The early sunset

Posted on März 1st, 2014

It was on a hot day in last june, were I decided to go up to a mountain. The reason was, the clear weather and the moonless night. The bad part was the temperature about 30°C. The path was steep and the backpack extra heavy because of the additional tent and sleeping bag, to stay overnight at the peak. The plan was to be on the top for the sunset, the night and the sunrise. However I was too late again for the sunset. So I stopped at the half way up and made this image before the sun was gone. I reached the peak at 22:00 and could see the rest of the reddish light at the horizon. And the night sky was really awesome, but this will be another story, so stay tuned ;)
